Greetings From Our Pastor

REV. CHANDRA ERY

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

On July 4th we celebrate the birth of our nation. The United States is 250 years old, marking its semiquincentennial (250th anniversary). We thank God for the gift of liberty, for those who sacrificed to secure it, and for the blessings we too often take for granted.

July 4th is also a day of consecration. The Catholic bishops of the United States, following the call of Pope Leo XIII in 1899, have renewed the dedication of our country to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Why the Sacred Heart? Because the Heart of Christ is where true freedom begins. Flags and constitutions can guard our freedoms, but only the Heart that was pierced for us can heal our divisions, cast out our fears, and make us "one nation, under God."

Re-enthroned Christ at home. The bishops entrust America to the Sacred Heart, but that entrustment starts in our living rooms.

Tonight, pray as a family:

"Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, we dedicate our nation, our parish, and our homes to You. Where there is hatred, sow love. Where there is fear, speak 'Do not be afraid.' Reign in our hearts, that we may be a people worthy of the freedom You died to give. Amen."

Enjoy the fireworks, parish family, but remember: the fire we're meant to set is the fire of His love.

May God bless you, and may we bless God by living as people consecrated to His Heart.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

God bless America.

In Christ,

Fr. Chandra Ery
